CRS Communications is a leading communications solution provider which has been operating since 1989.
In 2012 the decision was made to refresh the company brand from Central Radio Services to CRS Communications to better reflect the scope of services that the company now provides.
In the early days, Central Radio Services was a Tait radio dealer based in Mosgiel, however a shift of premises into Dunedin also lead to the adoption of the Motorola Two Way Radio portfolio and we are proud to say that our channel partner relationship with Motorola is still strong 22 years on.
In 1998, we established a branch in Queenstown to help support the two way radio needs of those in the Southern Lakes district.
Fearing a slow-down of two way radio demand in the mid 2000′s, a group of two way radio dealers formed a new business called Scorch with the intent of delivering wireless broadband internet services to rural New Zealand.
Central Radio Services invested a lot of time and energy to build its IP network which was incorporated as a separate entity in 2006 as Scorch Communications Otago operating as part of the Scorch group. Continued growth and the addition of IP services dictated a shift away from the Scorch group to a fully stand-alone business in 2010.
The feared slow-down of two way radio didn’t eventuate partly due to the introduction of DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) and the demand for two way radio is very strong and increasing as new technologies are incorporated with the radio systems.
Today, CRS own and operate digital, analogue enabled networks throughout Otago and parts of Southland which truly compliment each other and enable us to provide a range of services and solutions to our clients.
We are the preferred suppliers for many specialist projects including high altitude construction, film and event radio solutions, IP linking and wireless internet.
We are also a Motorola Radio Channel Partner and a foundation member of the Radio Frequency Users Association of New Zealand.
